I opened my "jm-ART" Gallery in Suite 2700, in November of 2021 with no idea what would happen, and from then until this December, I have been mounting a brand new exhibit every two months. That gave the public 6 OPEN days a month, to view my work. That may not seem like a lot, but I was also open for private appointments 4 days of every week. Trust me, it was enough!
I had on average, between 20 and 30 pieces in each show, except for my SISTERS exhibit which I'll explain in a minute.
In all, I had 7 different Exhibits in my own gallery and did 5 shows in other venues. I often rotated some of the work that was in the other spaces, since 2 of those were 6 month shows or longer. As I said, in my gallery, the shows were up for 2 months. I also did a one day art show with 10 of my art students at my previous church that showed about 20 pieces of mine and all of their work! It was so much fun, especially because we had not been meeting for classes because of COVID. Wonderful to see them again! BTW, I'm hoping to start classes again this spring! I believe in April!
I had the following 7 exhibits in my gallery: Black (Friday) and Blue; Reproductions; Nana; Flowers; Trees; SISTERS; Black & White and a Bit of Color. I needed to focus on something!
The SISTERS exhibit needs a bit of an explanation. I invited my real sister and my two best friends who are also artists to exhibit with me. In total, we showed 70 pieces! It was a huge project but a favorite one!
I had a wonderful commission that basically paid the rent for my gallery for the entire year. Thank you so very much Elvio Fernandes and The ROC STAR Academy in East Rochester NY! The picture of the four paintings is shown here, all 4 are 36 inch square acrylics, of the Beatles!
I THANK YOU ALL WHO HAVE SUPPORTED MY DREAM AND MADE IT A REALITY THIS YEAR.
I HOPE AND THINK IT WILL ONLY GET BETTER NEXT YEAR!
Perhaps a slide show of some of the highlights would be appropriate!
